After the first reports of UFOs (especially in the United States, from the late 40s), stories began to appear: mysterious men in black suits flew to witnesses, spoke in a strange tone, often mechanically, threatened to "forget what they saw" or "tell no one".
Some eyewitnesses described them almost as "not quite human": identical faces, strange movements, lack of emotion.
